Rancho Cucamonga Green Bike Lanes
Rancho Cucamonga Welcomes Green Bike Lanes!
New green bike lanes are being added to the streets of Rancho Cucamonga! This new system will allow for safer and more visible bike lanes. The Mobil Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee grant has launched this enhancement program to help promote biking as a transportation method and to enhance safety for bicyclists and motorists. The bike lanes will be marked with green thermoplastic in potential conflict areas where vehicles and bicycles may meet, such as approaching intersections and right turn pockets.
Green bike lanes allow bicyclists to feel safer when approaching a conflict area, where weaving typically occurs, while also increasing awareness of bicyclists to other motorists.
Initial improvements were made at the intersection of Base Line Road and Carnelian Street. After visible success, drivers and bicyclists can now find these improvements expanded along Base Line Road, Haven Avenue, Jersey Boulevard, and 6th Street as a visible representation of the City to commitment to active transportation and Healthy RC. Just another reminder to share the road and keep an eye out in the Green Zone!
