Defend the Drop!
Water conservation is something we should always be aware of! During the heat of the summer, we become even more aware as our water consumption increases. We drink more water, we need to water our plants more often, and we are filling swimming pools and playing in the water more often. "Defend the Drop" is a league of cities dedicated to water conservation. They provide information, quizzes and challenges to help us be more aware of our water consumption and how to save some of our precious water.
Now is a great time to be reminded of ways to conserve water:
- Use a shut-off nozzle for garden watering
- Fix outdoor sprinklers
- Adjust automatic sprinklers for the season
- Keep pools covered to prevent evaporation
- Wait for 48 hours to water your lawn after it rains
- Use a pro-car wash instead of your home water supply
- Run drip irrigation
- Fix leaky faucets
- Install water-saving devices
- Take shorter showers
With just a few simple changes we can all make a difference! "If we each work in small ways to save a little H2O every day, our water supply will continue to flow tomorrow." - Defend the Drop.
